MorMe: Our Story
MorMe Prosthetics is a family-run, UK-based enterprise founded in 2021. Our vision is to create handcrafted, hyper-realistic silicone prostheses with all the life and feels of the real thing. At MorMe, we believe everybody deserves to feel more like themselves — to feel more me.
We aim to soothe anxiety and inspire feelings of euphoria with our products by making them as lifelike and as close to you as possible.
By using digital sculpting and 3D printing methods, we're able to make unlimited design alterations and refinements, meaning we can focus on perfecting the details that matter to you most.
MorMe wouldn't exist without the help of our growing community and their willingness to share their stories with us. So in keeping with this ethos, I’d like to share a bit about myself and offer a brief history of how we came to make this our business.
Firstly, my name is Will (he/him). I’m married with three young children. I live in a small market town outside of Blackpool, England and for the last five years, I’ve made a living designing and sculpting humorous prostheses with my business, Billy’s Ball Bags.
It wasn’t until 2015, after a decade of working in 3D character animation, that I stumbled into the world of prosthetics (while planning a stag do, of all things!).
Led by public demand, Billy’s Ball Bags took its first baby steps on Etsy in 2015. Its growth has been organic, with TV spots and social media playing a huge part in its success.
The decision to go full-time with Billy’s Ball Bags was made for me when, in 2017, they featured in a video made by an internet prankster that reached 80 million views on Facebook alone!
From the beginning of Billy's Ball Bags, people have been reaching out to me with requests for products that are more anatomically correct. Often to replace something they've lost or fill a void they’ve carried their whole life.
In 2019, I received an email from a young man who had undergone surgery to remove his testicles. He wanted to know if I offered any products that were more anatomically accurate. At the time, I didn't, and he decided to order one of our regular ball bags – which measure 24cm in length!
Curious, I asked him how he intended to use it. He was surprisingly open about his intentions to modify it for everyday use.
Research revealed that prostheses on the market either lacked realism or were unduly expensive. The absence of any notable UK suppliers left many people with no options at all.
I was confident I could help. I felt it was time to start pushing the limits of how lifelike our range of prostheses could be and re-assessing who could benefit from them most.
About a year ago, I stumbled upon MorMe as I followed Billy on Instagram and we knew of each other but had never really spoken. The prosthetics left me completely speechless. (I think my first proper conversation with Billy was about the clip when it was released.. I was buzzin about it!)
The innovation and impact they're making, I think is revolutionary. So, when I saw they were on the lookout for an extra set of hands, I jumped at the chance.
So here I am, finding myself incredibly privileged to be a part of the team and hope that with my own experiences and creative ideas I can help making a genuine difference to MorMe and the trans+ community.
